Boiler Repair, Maintenance and Replacement

A boiler that quits in January is an emergency. We repair, service and replace residential steam and hot-water boilers, and we answer the phone all night.

Family-Owned

Plenty of Long Island homes still heat with boilers: steam systems in older houses, hot-water baseboard and radiators in many others. They are durable, but they need care. Low water, failing circulators, leaking valves and clogged burners are the most common reasons we get called out on cold nights.

Our technicians work on gas and oil-fired boilers, the near-boiler piping, circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks and relief valves. When a boiler reaches the end of its life, we size and install a replacement that matches your home's heating load.

Signs Your Boiler Needs Service

  • No heat, or some rooms cold while others are warm
  • Boiler cycling on and off frequently
  • Banging, hissing or knocking pipes
  • Water leaking around the boiler or radiators
  • Pressure gauge reading too high or too low
  • Yellow or flickering burner flame

How We Handle It

Restore heat

On an emergency call our first job is to get your heat back on safely.

Find the cause

We check controls, water level, pressure, circulators and the burner.

Repair or replace

We explain the options in plain terms, including what each costs.

Tune up

We set pressure, bleed air from the system and test every zone.

Annual Boiler Maintenance

A yearly tune-up before heating season catches worn parts while it is still warm out, not during the first cold snap. We clean and inspect the burner, check the controls and safety devices, test the relief valve and expansion tank, and check water level and pressure.

Regular service also keeps the boiler running efficiently and helps it last longer. If you have an indirect water heater off the boiler, we check that at the same visit.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do you service oil and gas boilers?

Yes, we work on both gas and oil-fired residential boilers.

  • My boiler pressure is high. Is that dangerous?

High pressure can make the relief valve discharge, and it usually points to a failing expansion tank or fill valve. Turn the boiler off and call us.

  • Steam or hot water, which do I have?

Steam systems usually have a sight glass showing the water level and radiators with an air vent. Hot-water systems have a pressure gauge and circulator pumps. We service both.

  • When should I replace my boiler?

When repairs are frequent, parts are hard to get, or the heat exchanger is cracked. We will give you an honest read on whether repair still makes sense.
