Most tank water heaters last somewhere around 8 to 12 years. Near the end, they start giving warning signs: rusty water, rumbling, a slow drip at the base. A tank that fails completely can put dozens of gallons on the basement floor, so it pays to act on those signs.

We service gas and electric tank heaters and install tankless units. If a repair makes sense, such as a thermocouple, gas valve, element or relief valve, we will fix it. If the tank itself is leaking, replacement is the only safe option, and we can often do it the same day.

Tank or Tankless?

A standard tank heater costs less up front and is simple to replace. A tankless unit heats water on demand, takes up far less space, and never runs out during back-to-back showers, but it costs more to install and may need gas line or venting changes.

We will look at your household's hot water use, your gas supply and your venting, and recommend what fits. If you are heating with a boiler, ask us about an indirect water heater too; see our boiler services.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can you replace my water heater today?

Often, yes. Call us early and we'll do our best to replace a failed tank the same day.

  • My water heater is leaking. What should I do?

Turn off the cold water supply valve at the top of the heater, then turn off the gas (set to 'pilot' or 'off') or the breaker for an electric unit. Then call us.

  • How often should a water heater be flushed?

Once a year helps remove sediment, which is common with Long Island water and shortens tank life.

  • Do you install tankless water heaters?

Yes. We install gas tankless units and handle the venting and gas line sizing they require.
